7 TRICKS TO MAKE YOUR PERFUME LAST LONGER

Perfumes are like time capsules that can remind us of certain seasons and emotions. A timeless fragrance is characterised by its multi-layered and balanced compositions. These can make it an all-rounder fragrance suitable for everyday use or an ideal signature fragrance for the wearer. Such special fragrances give us pleasure all year round and envelop us like a gentle hug to go - and that is really marvellous!

At Judith Williams Cosmetics, we have the privilege of working with some of the most renowned and world-renowned perfumers in the industry. Naturally, we took this opportunity to sound them out for you. Here are 7 simple tricks to help you enjoy your favourite fragrance for much longer.

1. APPLY DIRECTLY AFTER A SHOWER

The residual moisture after a hot shower allows your skin to retain the fragrance molecules for longer. So gently dry off and apply the fragrance directly!

2. PROPER PREPARATION IS KEY:

Oils can extend the shelf life of fragrances. Therefore, if you apply a little Vaseline to the relevant areas of the body, or preferably use a body lotion, your perfume will last longer.

3. Pro-TIP: SPRAY FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP

This trick comes straight out of the chemistry box: The delicate fragrance molecules fly upwards! So always spray your favourite fragrance from the bottom up and enjoy.

‘A perfume has an incredible amount to do with emotionality: as soon as we perceive it, it awakens feelings such as joy and love in us - and I think that's an art!"

- Judith Williams

4. SPRAY ON THE HAIR BRUSH

A secret trick from Judith: fragrances can settle perfectly on the rough surface of the hair and last much longer than on the skin - up to six hours! However: perfumes contain alcohol and this can dry out the hair. Better: spray the fragrance onto a brush and then comb through your mane with it. Hair perfumes are a good alternative. They contain less alcohol and additional nourishing ingredients.

5. CHOOSE UNUSUAL BODY AREAS

The classic warm body areas near the pulse such as the neck, décolleté, crook of the arm and wrists make perfumes more intense, but the fragrance lingers longer in colder areas: a spritz of perfume in the hollow of the knee or on the earlobe is therefore another tip from our bag of tricks for you!

6. DON'T RUB

If you rub your wrists together, you destroy the sensitive fragrance molecules and take away their intensity through the friction. Better: gently press or tap your wrists together. Voilà!

7. SPRAY ON NATURAL

If you don't change your perfume often, it's great to spray your clothes with your signature fragrance. Fragrances hold particularly well on natural fibres such as cotton, viscose or angora and cashmere. We hope these little tricks will help you get through these beautiful autumn days smelling great - please spread the word!
